Border police at the Albiţa Border Crossing Point together with customs officers have discovered 58,600 thousand cigarettes originating in the Republic of Moldova.
The 29-year-old man hid the tobacco products in the ceiling and the walls of the vehicle he was driving.
The border police officers together with the customs officers carried out a thorough control over the mean of transport, where 58,600 cigarettes of different brands, with excise stamp Moldova, were discovered.
According to the legal provisions, the tobacco products worth 13,185 Romanian lei were retained. Also, the Romanian car worth 90,000 lei was confiscated.
Besides, the driver will be issued a fine amounting to RON 10,000.
