Minister Gaburici orderd administration of Moldova Railway to optimize expenses and increase wages
The administration of Moldova Railway has two months to optimize expenses and increase employees' wages. The order belongs to Minister of Economy and Infrastructure, after Minister Chiril Gaburici met with the administration of Moldova Railway.
"We wish to see more passengers using the Railway. We wish to see more economic agents using the Railway to transport goods" Minister of Economy and Infrastructure.
Railway's administrator claims that in two years, the enterprise might be rid of debts, which reaches to 370 million lei, out of which 100 million are salary debts. The administration suggests optimization, so there will be branches administration more railway stations and less staff.
"We will decrease our expenses and increase the staff's salaries" director of Moldova Railway, Iurie Topală said.
Chisinau Railway experienced such optimization back in 2015.
"We begun closing stations. In the suburbs thee were station and staff working for a single train to pass through" director of Chisinau Railway, Mihail Arusoi, said.
Still, expenses are big, causing salaries to be small, sometime given late.
"The salary is 2 400- 2 500, we do not receive more than 2 500 lei" an employee said.
"We never receive the salary on time. I was last paid four months ago" an employee explained.
"There are times when we work without pay for five months. Luckily we are from a village and can survive with our household" an employee stated.
According to National Bureau of Statistics, in the first four months of the year, over 400 000 people chose to travel by train, by 12% more than in a similar time the previous year.
