Following yesterday's discussions with the protesters displeased by the raised fuel prices, today Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure have spoken with representatives of ANRE, APCSP and a group sent by protesters.

Minister Chiril Gaburici suggested the organization of a working group to examine all proposals of citizens and authorities on the prices and quality of fuel. The group will be made out of representatives of ANRE, APCSP, experts, as well as people representing displeased citizens.

"I am glad that we managed to offer this platform for communication, to make the process transparent and bring clarity in the way prices are set. I suggest the creation of a working group, that will analyze all factors establishing the prices for fuel and its quality. Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure will analyze the law in this field and, if necessary, will forward ideas for the legislation to be changed" Chiril Gaburici said.

During the discussions, ANRE representatives explained in details the way prices are established. According to them, those are calculated based on the global demand and supply, currency exchange rate, VAT, excise duties and specific trade margin. It was set that representatives chosen by protesters will make their own calculations based on the information given by ANRE and will come forward with suggestions regarding changing the method used in calculating fuel prices. At the same time, they were urged to chose persons who will be implicated in the working group, including elaborating other suggestions on changing the legislation in this field.

Speaking of the fuel quality, Minister informed protesters' representatives that work is being done to change the framework. According to Chiril Gaburici, on June 5, the Government approved to change the petroleum products law, foreseeing a system monitoring the fuel quality in Republic of Moldova to be established. At the same time, by the end of August, changes will be approve regulations relating to the transport, storage and marketing of petroleum products.

"Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure is working for months at the chapter of fuel quality. We studied the European norms, elaborated mechanisms that will ensure the quality of fuel. We wish by the end of August, to have the legal framework ready, to be able to control the fuel's quality both at customs, as well as in gas stations. It is important, because we will be able to compare the products. We assure you that there will be no difference in fuel quality, because it will be inspected both at customs and gas stations" Chiril Gaburici explained.

At the same time, Chiril Gaburici urged citizens to contact competent institutions when encountering breaches. 

"One of the Ministry's priorities is to raise the competition on the market, so that citizens will have quality products and services. I urge everyone to contact competent institutions when detecting any breaches. I urge colleagues from APCSP to take immediate actions and solve the petitions of drivers, who had their cars broken by law-quality fuel. I continue to count on collaboration and constructive dialogue" Minister of Economy and Infrastructure said.
