Mobile phone operators will be closely supervised for all regulations to be respected
Mobile phone operators will be closely supervised for all regulations to be respected. The subject was mentioned multiple times by Prime Minister Pavel Filip, while today the Government approved a new project which foresees for measures to be taken to ensure that electronic communication services will be in accordance with European standards.
The task will fall upon the National Center for Radio Frequencies and Cyber Security, which has all the required equipment and latest technology required for the project.
The supervision was previously performed by National Regulatory Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology of the Republic of Moldova (ANRCETI), but due to lack of necessary equipment, all decisions were based on the reports of the mobile phone operators.
According to the approved project, National Center for Radio Frequencies and Cyber Security will sent all collected data to ANRCETI, responsible for controlling the quality of offered services in the field.
"We were in a paradoxical situation as there were regulations the operators had to respect, but there was no way to check the operators' reports. Now was identified the Service, which has the necessary equipment and will be able to clearly supervise the mobile phone signal coverage and if all terms are respected" Pavel Filip said.
The redirection of the jurisdiction will contribute to the implementation of the laws required to monitor the quality of electronic communications services provided through radio networks and stations. This will following improve the quality of offered services.
