Moldova - German collaboration, topic discussed in Defense Ministry
Defense Minister Eugen Sturza met today with the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Moldova, Iulia Monar.
On this occasion, the two officials reviewed the Moldovan-German cooperation on the military segment and discussed the regional situation and the priorities of the defense institution for the current year.
Thus, Eugen Sturza informed Iulia Monar about the current state of defense sector reform in the context of the implementation of the DCBI Package, particularly the elaboration of strategic documents and the development of the capabilities needed to intensify the Moldova's participation in missions and international peacekeeping operations and the strengthening of security.
Minister Sturza also thanked the German Government for its support for training troops by contract, preparing the contingents of the National Army detached in the KFOR mission, as well as providing assistance in implementing projects in the field of military medicine and developing the capabilities of the National Army Weapons and Ammunition Center .
In turn, Ambassador Iulia Monar mentioned that Germany will continue to provide assistance for the development and modernization of the defense institution of Moldova, focusing on the field of training, expertise and medicine.
The Moldovan-German cooperation in the military field is ensured by the Inter-Ministerial Agreement on Defense Cooperation signed in March 2003.
