Moldova experiences setbacks in banking sector with warnings from National Bank officials and foreign investors
Moldova is experiencing setbacks in the banking sector, with warnings being issued by both National Bank officials and foreign investors. The statement was made by the Ambassador of Romania, Daniel Ioniță, during the show "Punctul pe AZi" on TVR Moldova.
"We receive those signals from several sources, directly from some strategic investors who came and invested. They believed in the invitation and official guarantees sent by the Moldovan public authorities, believed in their noble mission aimed at restoring the banking system, which is essential for any rule of law and democratic state.
I see that there are now some setbacks in this area. There are worrying signals coming from the National Bank of Moldova regarding the independent functioning of the institution," mentioned Daniel Ioniță.
According to the Romanian ambassador to Chisinau, it is worrying that in this situation foreign investors will reluctantly look at the opportunity to invest in Moldova.
"Unfortunately, that signal is also being passed on to other foreign investors. It is not the only signal of this kind that we have received lately", stated the Romanian Ambassador.
