Moldova participates at Global Forum for Migration, Development meeting

On 10-12 December in Dhaka, Bangladesh, was held the 9th final meeting of Global Forum Migration and Development (GFMD), attended by a delegation from Moldova. Bangladesh held GFMD presidency during 2016, Moldpres reports.
The final summit brought together more than 500 participants, representatives of states and international organizations.
The Moldovan delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Daniela Morari and included representatives of Foreign Ministry (MAIE), Domestic Affairs (MAI), intergovernmental organizations, like International Organization of Migration and International Border Services Agencies (IOM Moldova and NEXUS).
During its presidency Bangladesh, Moldova together with France co-chaired the roundtable discussions on the link between connectivity and migration; key participated as a speaker at the roundtable, on migration, diversity and harmonious society; was a member of teams governmental roundtable, on reducing migration costs; on the protection of migrants in all situations; 3.2 on principles, institutions and processes for safe and regular migration; general rapporteur for migration economy and development in closing summit plenary session.
Also, Moldova shared its experiences in implementing policies and initiatives on migration within Moldova-European Union Mobility Partnership, GFMD Platform for Partnerships (PfP) and sectoral events held on GFMD final session.
The active participation of Moldova in global dialogue of GFMD platform is an acknowledgment of the progress made by Moldova in the area of migration and mobility.
This format allows Moldova to participate in processes of decision-making and strategy development of international migration, implement best international practices, as well as create partnerships to promote national policies in order to target the impact of migration in its development
