Moldova signs with EBRD a financial arrangement to purchase natural gas reserves
Moldova will sign today with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (
The $ 50 million will be spent on purchasing gas reserves unless Moldova can import Russian gas.
The agreement will facilitate the implementation of the electricity system interconnection between Moldova and Romania. It will create a transparent and competitive electricity market in Moldova and the country's integration with the European Union's electricity market.
The purpose of the project lies in the construction, equipment and commissioning of the electrical interconnection between Moldova and Romania.
Moldova and the EBRD signed the Grant Agreement regarding the interconnection of electricity networks with Romania on September 26, 2019. The term of validity of the grant agreement is June 21, 2025.
