Moldova telecom revenues down 3% in Q1 to MDL 1.6 billion
Moldova's total revenue from activities in the electronic communications sector decreased 3.32 percent year-on-year in Q1 to MDL 1.633 billion, according to a report by telecommunications authority Anrceti.
The amount refers to revenues from mobile telephony, dedicated mobile internet, fixed telephony, fixed internet, broadcasting and retransmission of audiovisual programmes, and other sectors. All market segments recorded drops in revenues besides dedicated mobile internet and fixed internet sectors where sales increased compared to the first quarter of 2015 by MDL 92.24 million ( 19.9 percent) and MDL 268 million (4.7 percent), respectively.
The highest rates of revenue decline were recorded in the market for broadcasting and retransmission of audiovisual programmes and fixed telephony market, namely 18.12 percent and 10.89 percent, respectively.
Sales recorded in these two market segments reached MDL 66.09 million and MDL 236 million, respectively.
A relatively lower decline rate, 4.29 percent, was recorded by the mobile services market whose revenues reached about MDL 804.10 million. The most significant ARPUs were recorded on the markets for fixed internet access and dedicated mobile internet access, namely MDL 166.95 and MDL 102.8.
ARPU was MDL 65.5 on the fixed telephone services market , MDL 62.2 on the mobile market and MDL 45.74 on the pay-television market (cable networks, satellite networks and IP TV), Telecom Paper reports.
