Moldova to apply U.S experience in creating Centers of Family Justice
The Centers will aim at providing comprehensive assistance to victims of domestic violence. The centers will provide social, legal, psychological services.
The purpose of the Family Justice Center is to prevent violence by providing specialized advice to the population in risk groups and to provide services on the multidisciplinary cooperation platform.
In this respect, a Moldovan Delegation headed by the Minister of Health, Labor and Social Protection, Svetlana Cebotari participates in the 18th International Conference of Family Justice Centers, which is held in Fort Worth, Texas, United States of America.
The delegation also includes representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Justice and the General Police Inspectorate. Also, the head of the US diplomatic mission in Moldova, Julie Stufft, also attends the event.
At the conference, the representatives of the United States of America presented their practical effectiveness in preventing and combating violence in which specialists from different sectors, such as justice, police, social assistance and probation, provide comprehensive assistance to victims of violence.
The study of international practices, including the functioning of the Centers of Family Justice, is part of the objectives set by Moldova in the new National Strategy for Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Family Violence for the years 2018-2023. Document aims to create specialized services to prevent violence.
Svetlana Cebotari stressed at the conference that the development and administration of Centers of Family Justice in Moldova is a necessity, in the context of efforts and actions to combat this phenomenon. In 2017 there were about 762 women 59 girls and 45 women aged over 50 who suffered from this. It is necessary to change the approach in the field of prevention of domestic violence by providing multidisciplinary specialized services to victims.
The United States will provide support to Moldova in the development of these centers as well as in improving policies in the field of preventing domestic violence.
The conference organized by Alliance for Hope International is considered to be the most important annual international event for those involved in the creation and / or administration of Family Justice Centers.
