Eight regional centers in Moldova will get the status of municipality. The law on this effect was passed today, November 3rd, in a Parliament meeting.

Cahul, Hincesti, Ungheni, Orhei, Soroca, Edinet, Comrat, Bender, Straseni and Ceadir-Lunga have received the status.

According to the Administrative and Territorial Law and Local Public Finance Law, the cities will retain 40-per-cent of income tax. 

20-per-cent of tax income is retained in places without such a status.
