Moldovan citizens from abroad can register on-line for participation in Presidential Elections
Central Electoral Commission informs that Moldovan citizens eligible to vote, from abroad, can submit the preliminary on-line registration for the participation in the Presidential Elections of 30 October 2016.
Thus, the Moldovans from abroad are invited to access www.alegator.md web page, "Preliminary registration" section and to fill in the electronic registration form and a declaration, by which they express their will to participate in elections and certify that they are situated abroad.
Afterwards, the voter will receive a confirmation on the preliminary registration by the e-mail address he/she indicated in the form. Pre-registration period will end 40 days before the Elections Day at the latest.
Overseas citizens who have submitted the preliminary registration will be automatically removed from the Voter Lists, corresponding to their place of residence in Moldova. The cancelation procedure is a temporary one and will be available only for the Presidential Elections from 2016.
The preliminary registration of Moldovans abroad will allow to identify major concentrations of voters, in order to establish additional polling stations.
Once the pre-registration period will end, CEC will forward to the Government the information on the number of citizens preliminarily registered abroad, for deciding whether additional polling stations need to be opened outside diplomatic missions and consular offices.
The collected data from the preliminary registration will be processed exclusively for the organization and conduct of elections. The data will be protected by the Law no. 133 of 8 July 2011 on Personal Data Protection and will not be disclosed to any national or foreign institution, except for the cases expressly stipulated by the legislation.
