Smoking is now banned near schools and hospitals in the country. The Moldovan Constitutional Court has declared constitutional provisions of tobacco control law and rejected the complaint of former deputy Simion Grişciuc.
Simion Grişciuc considers these prohibitions affect the right to property, namely free economic initiative and freedom of trade, protection of fair competition and equality before the law.
The Tobacco Control Law prohibits the placement of under-20-square-meter booths to sell tobacco products within 200 meters of educational and medical facilities.
