Moldovan Defense Minister's visit to NATO as important signal in partnership - spokeswoman Oana Lungescu
The forthcoming visit by Moldovan Defense Minister Eugen Sturza to NATO is "an important signal" for strengthening the partnership of the Republic of Moldova and NATO. This is the opinion of NATO spokesperson Oana Lungescu.
"It is an important signal for partnership we have with the Republic of Moldova, which is a long-term partnership and we hope to strengthen it. We are glad that the minister intends to start work with a visit to Brussels, "said the NATO representative in an interview for Radio Free Europe.
She mentioned that "Moldova's Partnership with NATO is really long-lasting".
According to her, the Republic of Moldova contributes to Europe's security: "For example, Moldova participates in our peacekeeping operation in Kosovo with troops, who are very professional and really bring an important contribution to what we do there ".
The NATO representative said that the next step in co-operation is the opening of the Liaison Office in Chisinau.
"This is already functional, because the head of the office is already in Chisinau, in spring we started this mandate and the physical opening of the office will be done in December. I can assure you that there is no malevolence but we must bear in mind that we have certain financial procedures that must be respected, because, ultimately, they are NATO public funds, which are carefully scrutinized by the 29 of Alliance member countries, "pointed out Lungescu.
