A citizen of Republic of Moldova is investigating for attempting to smuggle forbidden pesticides and other undeclared goods. The incident took place at the end of last week, at Medveja Customs.

A 38-year-old citizen from Medveja village, Briceni district, wished to enter Republic of Moldova, driving a Ford Tranzit vehicle, with Moldovan registration plate.

Border guards have searched the minibus, managing to discover 200 ampules with toxic chemicals used in agriculture to kill pests. Moreover, under the front seat, officers found hidden goods: clothes and hair products. During questionings, the man confessed of smuggling the forbidden chemicals for personal usage.

The items were confiscated as stated by law, while the pesticides were sent to the laboratory. The suspect is being investigated for contraband.
