Moldovan fixed internet providers report profit hike
Moldovan operators' fixed internet sales grew by 4.7 percent year-on-year in H1 to MDL 541.3 million, according to a report by telecommunications authority Anrceti.
The number of subscribers to these services increased by about 7,800 or 1.5 percent compared to the end of 2015 to 542,200, while the penetration rate per 100 inhabitants rose to 15.3 percent.
ARPU of internet access services at fixed locations increased by 0.2 percent to about MDL 167.6 in H1. The sales growth on this market segment is due largely to an increasing number of subscribers to fixed broadband internet.
FTTB customers rose by 12,000 or 4.2 percent to 301,300 compared to the end of 2015, xDSL customers dropped by 2,100 or 1.1 percent to 201,300, and coaxial cable customers fell by 1,900 or 5 percent to 37,400.
At the end of H1, fibre leads with 55.6 percent of customers, followed by xDSL with 37.1 percent, coaxial cable with 6.9 percent and other technologies with 0.4 percent, Telecompaper writes.
