Moldovan government to optimize work of Customs Service
The government, at a today’s meeting, approved amendments to a decision on the limit staff and regulation on organization and work of the Customs Service.
The amendments see reducing the staff of the Customs Service by 200 units at the expense of the administrative apparatus and establishing the norm on the appointment and dismissal of the Customs Service’s leadership, the government’s communication and media relations department has reported, according to Moldpres.
Also, the government, at the today’s meeting, approved a decision on negotiations and signing of a memorandum of understanding, which is to allow the reform in the customs administration sector. Under the document, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) offers free of charge the most recent version of the Integrated Information System Asycuda to the Moldovan Customs Service.
The holding of this electronic system provides a string of advantages for the customs bodies, as they it provides an increased efficiency of the control and procedures of customs processing. Also, Asycuda implies tightening the security of the stocked information; at the same time, this facilitates the exchange of information with similar foreign structures and cooperation with the latter in the information technologies sector.
In continuation, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development commits, by means of projects, to provide the Customs Service with strategic and technical assistance, support and training in the use of the information system. The memorandum of understanding is signed for a five-year period.
