The Moldovan authorities have unveiled and dismantled a criminal group smuggling walnut kernel to Moldova through the Transnistrian area.

120 tonnes of kernel, MDL518,405 and $11,850 have been lifted from three members of the gang. Three Moldovan companies used to buy the kernel and sell it abroad as Moldovan produce.

When quizzed, a Syrian national managing one of the companies recognized the kernel was exported on the basis of fake documents and the illegal network had functioned the whole last year.
