Moldovan Premier and Romanian Economy Minister discuss energy projects in Chisinau
Premier Pavel Filip has met with Romanian Economy Minister Costin Grigore Borc and has discussed about the cooperation in the energy sector.
The Moldovan Prime Minister has stressed that Moldova’s being connected to Romania’s and the EU’s energy grid is a priority. Pavel Filip says the Cabinet is flexible and determined to carry out the projects on building the energy infrastructure.
The Prime Minister has thanked the Bucharest Government for its support in building the Iași-Ungheni gas pipe, and for the grant of 550,000 euros to draft the blue prints for the Ungheni – Chișinău pipe.
„These projects are pivotal for Moldova, not only in terms of industry, but also of strategy. Speaking about the energy security, one must be provided with several energy sources,” Pilip said.
Deputy Premier Costin Grigore Borc has highlighted the Romanian companies’ experience in the power sector, pointing out their intention and ability to expand: „These projects mean not only diversifying Moldova energy sources, but also an opportunity for Romania’s economy developing within the region.”
The bilateral economy intergovernmental committee is holding its sessions in Chisinau these days. The two officials have highlighted the importance of the Romanian companies to participate in the Moldovan privatization auctions.
