Moldovan Prime Minister meets with U.S. ambassador
Premier Pavel Filip has met with the U.S. Ambassador to Moldova, James Pettit, remarking that the year 2017 marks 25 of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Cabinet chief has underscored the U.S.A. is a strategic partner of Moldova, and its support is very valuable and important.
"We are very grateful for your backing. The support of the U.S.A. and the E.U. was crucial for stabilizing the economic-financial situation in 2016. The most important event was concluding the program, with the IMF, last year," Filip said.
Pavel Filip has underlined 2017 must become the year of sustainable economic development and of growing investing: “Our number one priority is implementing the Association Agreement with the E.U."
James Pettit has encouraged the Cabinet to continue its efforts in implementing the reforms aiming at enhancing the people’s living standard.
The Ambassador has referred to the cooperation in economy and democracy strengthening, as last year the two Governments had inked two assistance accords to enhance trade and investment and, respectively, to insure a more efficient and responsible governance, totaling USD98.7 mn.
Being Moldova’s strategic partner, the U.S.A. has provided assistance to this country in amount of $1.4 bn since 1992, including $45 mn in 2016.
