Moldovan-Swiss relations discussed by Minister Tudor Ulianovschi with top Swiss leadership
In the margins of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Minister for Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Tudor Ulianovschi, had an exchange of views on Swiss-Swiss relations with Swiss President Ueli Maurer, who expressed his willingness to offer all the support for deepening bilateral political dialogue and the intensification of trade and economic cooperation.
Another topic of the talks was to reaffirm Moldova's intention to sign a free trade agreement with EFTA member states, in the context of Ueli Maurer reiterating Switzerland's firm support for this. The head of Moldovan diplomacy addressed an invitation to President Ueli Maurer to make an official visit to Moldova during the current year.
In Davos, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi also had a meeting with Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs of Switzerland, Ignazio Cassis. In the dialogue, the officials discussed the use of Swiss assistance under the new cooperation strategy with the Republic of Moldova for the period 2018-2021, especially in the new areas of assistance such as the development of vocational education, the expansion of small and medium enterprises, job creation, etc. . In this context, Minister Tudor Ulianovschi said that by attracting new investments will be supported the efforts of the Republic of Moldova in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Objectives of the country, contributing to the modernization of the state and raising the standard of living of our citizens.
The head of the Moldovan diplomacy welcomed the successful implementation of the projects in the Swiss Development Strategy, while also calling for the Republic of Moldova to be included as beneficiary country of the Economic and Investment Programs of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO).
The State Secretariat for Economic Affairs of Switzerland manages over 500 programs for developing countries in the Eastern and Southern European region, whose objective is to facilitate integration into the global economy by strengthening economic policies, expanding infrastructure, developing entrepreneurship, promoting trade and enhancing competitiveness in the international trade through access to new outlets.
