Veaceslav Filip, the Moldovan consul to the Turkish city of Istanbul, will learn today whether he will stay or not in custody the following days.

A Chisinau court is to consider prosecutor’s request of arresting the detainee for 30 days.

The request was lodged on Friday -- the same day as the diplomat was indicted.

The consul was detained on the Chisinau airport, as he was leaving the plane, for taking bribes from foreign citizens against issuing them documents to stay in Moldova.
