Moldova's Filip talks enhancing business cooperation with Belarus' Lukashenko
Prime Minister Pavel Filip has met with Belarusian president Alexandr Lukashenko today. The meeting has taken place in Bishkek, at the reunion of the CIS heads of state.
The Moldovan official has lauded the ascending bilateral relations and political dialogue, welcoming the visit of the Belarusian premier to Moldova, scheduled for October 2-3.
Pavel Filip has highlighted Moldova’s openness towards joint infrastructure projects aiming at enhancing the Moldovan exports to the Belarusian and EU markets.
Alexandr Lukashenko has said the constructive bilateral relations ground on mutual friendship and respect. He has pleaded for capitalizing on the opportunities opened by the free trade zone within the CIS and the opportunities Moldova has within its Free Trade Zone with the EU.
Belarus is a key business partner of Moldova.
In 2015, the Moldovan companies exported, to Belrus, goods worth over $130 million, while the imports exceeded $84 million.
In the first half of 2016, the trade turnover reached $100 million.
