Most schools plan to receive students next month. Only teachers must wear masks
75 percent of schools want to receive students in classes from September 1. In schools, the mask will be mandatory only for teachers.
According to Secretary of State Natalia Grîu, over 900 schools want to opt the classical education system. Pupuls will learn in several shifts in over 120 schools. Moreover, they will sit apart and will not wear masks.
The entry and exit route from the schools will be marked with visible lanes.
Disinfectant solutions will be mandatory in school minibuses and buses, and students will wear masks.
Other schools opt for the mixed system.
"277 institutions (over 22 percent) will go on this combined model which assumes that the 5th and 12th students will study in face-to-face classes while combined education (face-to-face and remote learning) will be organized in other classes according to a specific schedule ", said the state secretary at the Ministry of Culture Education and Research, Natalia Grîu.
Three thousand teachers will get online teaching trainging. A company will deliver about 2,500 laptops for educational institutions which cost the state budget about 20 million lei.
So far, the district education departments and school administrations have purchased 2,700 non-contact digital thermometers, 67 tons of hand sanitizer and over a thousand tons of surface disinfectant.
According to Education officials, more than 90 schools did not buy any thermometers, more than 80 did not have dispensers, and 34 did not buy any hand sanitizer.
"USAID and UNICEF will finance the purchase of hygienic products worth 400 thousand dollars for all schools and kindergartens that do not have capacity," said Natalia Grîu.
There are about 333 thousand students attending in 1249 schools in Moldova.
