(UPDATE 12:23) So far local authorities have decided to replace two of their colleagues. Valentina Ţapeş and Viorel Chivriga will substitute Victor Lutenco and Oazu Nantoi, who submitted their mandates as municipal councilmen. 

Officials have also debated upon president of PL fraction, Ion Ceban's suggestion to name 2018 in Chisinau the Year of United Principalities. The idea breaking out multiple arguments. Socialist and Communist councilmen claiming that the municipality has more pressing matters to solve than this.

(10:16) Municipal Council of Chisinau will hold the first meeting of this year. Despite the fact that the session should have begun at 10:00, only 4 councilmen have so far arrived, despite today's agenda including multiple important topics for the municipality.

First, the councilmen will discuss if the municipal enterprise will rent 30 vehicles to ensure citizens' comfort. According to the regulations, they will be rented for 5 years and will not exceed 30 000 euro per bus.  At the moment, the municipality owns 124 vehicles, all being over 20 years old, having traveled on average over one million kilometers. 

Councilmen will also discuss about the construction of a trolleybus line on Columna street, between Bodoni and Alecsandri street, so that trolleybuses will be able to circulate on Vasile Alecsandri street.

Also today will be decided if the Socioecology and Food and Agriculture departments will be optimized. If this will happen, the municipality will save around one million lei.

Councilmen will discuss of acquiring space, worth 10 million lei, where social houses will be constructed.
