NAC and EIB signed memorandum to monitor the financial assistance offered to Moldova
National Anticorruption Center (NAC) and European Investment Bank (EIB) have joined forces to detect, prevent and stop European funds frauds. The terms of this collaboration were included in a memorandum signed on May 2, at Luxembourg, by NAC director, Bogdan Zumbreanu and chief of EIB, Barbara Balke.
According to the document, the parties will exchange information on frauds and breaches, as well as offer mutual support, especially on reaching aims and solving cases of mutual interest.
Here, National Anticorruption Center and European Investment Bank will offer mutual assistance in cases and investigations. It will include technical assistance, methods to process and analyze data, IT expertise and equipment.
The information provided by partners will always be considered strictly confidential and will only be disclosed within the meant institution.
As the EU financing institution, European Investment Bank must ensure that the funds offered to other countries are used only for their intended purpose and ensure that there are no frauds, corruption, theft, money laundering and terrorism financing within the operations.
European Investment Bank has 0 toleration for such acts, while the Inspectorate General of the European Investment Bank is investigating such acts in order to prove the evidence and at necessity, offer preventive or correctional measures.
At the same time, Inspectorate General of European Investment Bank is collaborating with European Anti-Fraud Office and national authorities, to combat frauds.
National Anticorruption Center suggested that for the priority of 2018 too be monitoring and preventing crimes tied to EU assistance frauds, here three investigations are already ongoing.
