National Army ammunition management discussed by international experts
The management of small guns and conventional munitions were discussed by international experts within the second conference of the Defense Ministry.
National Army made a vast range of measures to consolidate the security and safety of the places ammunition storage from Republic of Moldova's storage, installing security systems for the National Army ammunition depots, modernizing the Weapons and Ammunition Center, endowing the ammunition chemical testing laboratory and training the personnel in the field. The implementation of these actions has allowed us to protect both military and civilian personnel by reducing the risks of ammunition storage.
According to Sturza, these activities were realized with the support of the Austria, Sweden, Norway, Canada Governments and some international organizations such as OSCE mission, the Control Center of Guns from Eastern and South Eastern Europe, US program for development, EU, International Committee of the Red Cross, Golden West foundation and Norvegian Peoples Aid NGO.
The security and safety objectives can be achieved only together, through multilateral and multinational cooperation, with the involvement of international experts in the field, and raising public awareness of the risks and dangers in the field of arms and ammunition management," said the Defense Minister.
The conference was organized with the support of OSCE in Republic of Moldova.
