New attack against journalist: Chiril Moţpan intimidated Publika TV reporter
PPDA MP Chiril Moţpan, President of parliamentary commission for security bullied Publika TV reporter Oxana Bodnar and slammed the door in her face. This happened after the official was asked where he had access to information on Publika and Prime's commercial transactions which he published on his Facebook.
Moreover, he started his lessons on ethics instead answering questions.
Reporter: How could you have information on Publika and Prime that you published?
MOŢPAN: Please let's leave this hall.
REPORTER: Who did offer you those financial information?
MOŢPAN: Thank you very much. Have a good day!
REPORTER: Mr Moţpan, why don't you talk with us?
MOŢPAN: Have a good day!
REPORTER: You hide the information resource?
After around 15 minutes staying in the office, Chiril Moţpan went out and hoped Publika TV already left. We insisted staying to know his information resource.
MOŢPAN: They are financed by Plahotniuc.
Reporter: Where did you find this information?
MOŢPAN: This will be informed by Prosecutor's Office and ...
REPORTER: Where did you find this information?
MOŢPAN: Ms, don't need to ask me what I can's speak out.
Meanwhile, the politician admitted he was not interested in the financial resources of other televisions.
REPORTER: Do you have information of financial resource of other TV channels or at least did you request these data?
MOŢPAN: I didn't request anybody. But if you suggest me this idea, I think it's good one.
REPORTER: Why didn't you request until now?
MOŢPAN: At the moment, we only concentrate on the company of Plahotniuc.
REPORTER: Don't you think that this is a pressure over the press that you published information without respecting the presumption of innocence enshrined?
MOŢPAN: If you don't think it's correct, pronounce it, no problem.
REPORTER: We pronounced it and we said that was a pressure.
MOŢPAN: It's not a pressure, Ms.
Later, after the insistence of the Publika TV reporter, Moţpan gave in and acknowledged that he had done the wrong thing, when he tried to prevent the journalist from asking questions about his post.
REPORTER: What is the purpose of posting this information? To close these televisions?
MOŢPAN: To inform the public opinion about things, in my opinion, are absolutely illegal.
I don't see any motive to dialogue with you.
REPORTER: You slammed the door in my face. It's not nice.
MOŢPAN: Sorry, It's not moment to make a declaration.
On September 25, PPDA MP Chiril Moţpan, the President of Parliamentary Commission "Committee for national security, defense and public order”, published information with commercial character regarding Publika TV and Prime TV's internal activity and commercial relations with their partners.
General Media Group Corp, the holder of audiovisual licence of Publika TV and Prime TV, condemns the politician's actions and qualifies them as extremely political abuse and direct attack against the press which doesn't succumb to political pressure and blackmail.
