No.1 raider Veaceslav Platon condemned to another 12-year jail
Veaceslav Platon was condemned to another 12-year imprisonment in the second criminal file he is investigated. The No. 1 raider from Commonwealth of Independent States was found guilty of swindling and passive corruption.
According to prospectors, during 2016, Veaceslav Platon, being the manager with the majority stake of three insurance companies, owned through third parties, has stolen the money from the their accounts. The suspect has implicated in the crime two other people acting as authors, who were supposed to execute the plan.
The money was to be stolen from the accounts of a Romanian company (over 205 million lei), with the initiation of the separation procedure by S.A. Moldasig.
At Platon's instructions, intercepted persons went to Bucharest, where they presented to the administration of the Romanian company a fake report of the Council of S.A. Moldasig and other documents issued with the overrun of the legal framework. The general manager of the insurance company in Romania opposed the fictional change of the group of shareholders of the insurance company in order to evade the financial means.
With the help of the same criminal group, Veaceslav Platon tried to get Moldasig and SA Alliance Insurance Group over 3.5 million lei and about 10 million US dollars. This was to be done by appointing new deputy directors to insurance companies close to Plato. These people were to evade money from current accounts and company deposits by transferring them to other companies controlled by Veaceslav Platon.
Plato's intention was blocked by the National Financial Market Commission, which in turn appointed new vice-directors to the two insurance companies.
Plato is currently serving an 18-year prison sentence for scam and money laundering.
