Number of divorces rising in Moldova. Psychologists have THIS explanation
Love lasts 11 years in Moldova. That’s on the average the duration of the Moldovans’ marriages. According to the National Statistics Bureau (NSB), over half of couples divorce after less than 9 years.
14% decide to terminate their marriage after living together from 10 to 14 years.
9% parted after being married 15-19 years, as a quarter decide to end their relations after living together 20 years. The number of divorces in Moldova is slightly ascending.
11,200 couples untied the knot last year, 100 more than in 2014. In 2013, the number of divorces was 10,800.
The psychologists explain the situation by the lack of moral preparedness for family life, but also by financial problems that especially the young couples have to cope with.
16.5 of the divorced men and over 15 % of divorced women remarried last year. At the same time, almost 25,000 marriages were registered last year, that’s 3.5 % less than in 2014.
