Over 20 thousand citizens of Leova district will benefit of high quality tap water
More than 20 000 residents of 28 villages from Leova district will soon have quality tap water. The construction of the Leova-Iargara aqueduct is now in full swing. Premier Pavel Filip visited the building site.
The city of Iargara is one of the localities that will benefit from the project. The Hanganu family, like other villagers can only use water from the well. But it is not of a good quality.
"We notice the bad quality of the water when we boil it", said Nicolae Hanganu, inhabitant of the town of Iargara.
Another problem is the drainage of the wells.
"Because of the cold weather, the locals can stay without water in the wells, so they have to make reserves, so these barrels are a great necessity for the inhabitants of Iargara", said Oxana Bodnar, PUBLIKA TV reporter.
The locals are looking forward to the construction of an aqueduct in the locality:
"There are people who have no fountain." "How do they do it?" "I bring water from the fountains of my neighbors."
"I'd like to buy an automated car, you do not have to bother."
The total cost of the project is nearly 61 million lei.
"This project has been funded from a number of sources. The main source is from the German agency, thanks to this, because the works are starting quite seriously." The National Regional Development Fund will allocate another eight million lei", declared Ion Gudumac, president of Leova district.
According to Prime Minister Pavel Filip, the Government will pay special attention to the water supply of the localities in the country.
"Now we were talking about a separate water and sanitation strategy for the whole country. If we had a project covering the entire geography of the Republic of Moldova, we would know how to go, you go and you know why you borrow money" said Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
The aqueduct will have a length of about 23 kilometers.
Similarly, two pumping stations and one pumping station will be built.
The connection of all localities will be completed by the end of 2020.
