A new lot of fruits from Moldova that was supposed to reach Russia was banned by Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision. Over 20 tons of apples were stopped in Kursk.
The reason invoked by Russian authorities was that the information form accompanying documents and the labels were not matching. According to the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision, this is a breach of the terms foreseen by Eurasian Economic Union.
During last year, Russia forbade close to 200 tons of apples and plums from Moldova. Most of the lots were send back due to moth larvae being found in the fruits.
