Over 3 tonnes of fish and meat, lacking certificates of origin, were nearly sold in the markets from the Capital.
According to law enforcement, 4 vans were pulled over at the intersection of Varlaam and Tighina streets. The drivers confessed that the fish and meat was supposed to be transported and sold in the Central Market from Chisinau.
If found guilty, the suspects risk a fine to 4 500 lei.
Police officers urge people to only purchase food products from specialized stores.
