Over half of 2020 capital budget to be earmarked for education
Over 50% of the 2020 capital budget will be earmarked for education and only 2% for capital investment and repair programs. The suburbs will receive 64 million lei, it means around 3 million for each of them. Previously, they benefited from one million lei from the municipal budget.
The budget provides revenues of 4.3 billion lei, up by 11.1% against this year, and spending 4.6 billion lei, up by 9.4% than in 2019. The deficit will be 291.6 million lei.
67.4% of the total amount will be spent on education, culture, health care and social protection.
The expenses related to the communal household, the transport and the road management will account for 28,3%.
For the program of investments and capital repairs for 2020, 186 162.5 thousand lei is estimated, or 4 percent of the total expenses.
The city councilors also approved the size of several local taxes that will be applied in 2020. According to the CMC decision, casinos will pay a tax of 500 000 lei next year, compared to 200 thousand at present.
Acting head of the General Directorate of Finance Olesea Pșenițchi said at the CMC meeting that a fee of 250 000 was set for the gambling halls.
The commercial units that will sell cigarettes will pay a tax of 10 000 or 20 000 lei, depending on the area.
