Parliamentary Assembly Moldova - Ukraine: Hybrid war poses danger in Moldova
Hybrid war is a real danger to the region of the Republic of Moldova, so the information space has to be secure. This is the opinion of the Ukrainian deputies from the friendship group with our country. The opinion was expressed at the meeting, which took place on Saturday in Odessa. The lawmakers from the two states also addressed issues related to border security, the electoral reform in our country, and the education law recently approved by the Kiev Supreme Rada.
Ukrainian deputies believe Chisinau authorities should pay special attention to securing the information space in the context of the situation in the region.
"We were forced to do that when things were already bad. We had to block some TV stations and we were looking into the possibility of filtering certain content on the internet, "said Pavel Unggurean, deputy to the Verkhovna Rada in Kiev.
Security was also addressed in the meeting.
"Common customs control, including on the Transnistrian side, are already ready for signing eight protocols for the establishment of common control points, which are to be ratified at the level of implementation, we are in favor of our colleagues in Ukraine", Eugeniu Nighiforciuc , deputy PDM.
"First of all, thank you for supporting the UN resolution on the withdrawal of Russian troops. For us, this is very important," said PDM MP Violeta Ivanov.
The meeting of the friendship group also talked about the implementation of the education law in Ukraine. Local authorities are assuring that the rights of ethnic minorities will be respected.
"We want to keep the language of all ethnic minorities living in the Odessa region," said Maxim Stepanov, governor of Odessa.
Also, the deputies from Kiev also referred to the domestic situation in our country. They believe that switching to the mixed electoral system will ensure an effective dialogue between deputies and voters.
"The lack of a direct dialogue between the authorities and the citizens is a problem. The power should not be focused on the leadership of the parties, "Constantin Isceikin, deputy to the Verkhovna Rada in Kiev.
The next meeting of the parliamentary friendship group between Moldova and Ukraine will take place in the autumn.
