Partnership between the Republic of Moldova and North Carolina is considered one of the most successful in the US
The Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the United States of America, Cristina Balan, paid a visit to North Carolina, a state with which Moldova has a privileged partnership.
The Chisinau officials' agenda included a series of high-level meetings with North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper, State Secretary Elaine Marshall, North Carolina National Guard, as well as talks at the Jewish Federation in Greensboro, representatives of the civil society and academia in North Carolina.
During the meeting with Governor Roy Cooper, the importance of the privileged partnership between the Republic of Moldova and North Carolina was reiterated. The US official provided its unequivocal support for the extension of the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and North Carolina.
State Secretary Elaine Marshall has appreciated the partnership's achievements in the field of defense and security in the social sphere, education, medicine, agriculture, and so on. Marshall noted that the existing partnership model between the Republic of Moldova and North Carolina is considered one of the most successful in the US .
During the meeting, the opportunities for developing the partnership and subsequent actions were agreed, including the organization in Chisinau of the next meeting of the Moldova-North Carolingian Bilateral Cooperation Committee, the American delegation being led by the Secretary of State of North Carolina, Elaine Marshall.
During the talks with representatives of the National Guard of North Carolina, a review of state cooperation on the defense dimension was discussed and ways were discussed to intensify the partnership between the Moldovan military and the National Guard.
The Moldovan ambassador appreciated the US contribution to reforming the defense sector in our country, including military training in US specialized education institutions, endowment with equipment, as well as activities and joint exercises.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Moldova to the United States met with several academics from the most pretentious universities in the State of North Carolina. During the discussions, the parties noted with satisfaction the important results of the education and professionalization dimension in the pharmaceutical, dentistry, medicine, as well as the existing partnerships at the libraries level.
Also, new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation have been identified for both peoples.
During all meetings with senior US officials in North Carolina, the importance of continuing good cooperation relations as well as the mutual interest in strengthening the partnership between our country and North Carolina was reconfirmed.
Publika.md recalls that the partnership between the Republic of Moldova and North Carolina was launched on 22 April 1999 by signing a bilateral Memorandum aimed at facilitating cooperation in the economic, cultural, scientific, academic, defense and civil protection fields, coordination of humanitarian efforts various governmental institutions and non-governmental organizations.
