Pavel Filip at Report: We build good relations with European markets, our products reach USA
Premier Pavel Filip has presented Government Activity Report 2017 at the Parliament meeting today. A question - answer session followed his presentation.
Deputies wanted to learn from the prime minister how to recover the lost money from bank fraud, EU macro-financial assistance and what the government is doing to conquer new markets for Moldovan products.
Most of the questions came from opposition MPs. The Socialists accused the Government of accepting the construction of hydropower plants on the Dniester River.
"When the committee specialists say that it is a problem, following geopolitical relations and the love for Ukraine, you admit that these hydropower plants will be built and Moldova will remain without water," said Vlad Bătrâncea, deputy PSRM.
"Mr. Batrâncea, can you please not scare our citizens? A joint commission was established, now no center can be built on the Dniester River without this committee consisting of 19 experts from Chisinau and 19 experts from Kiev, "said Pavel Filip, the prime minister of the Republic of Moldova.
"What have you done during this period to conquer not only the EU and CIS markets, but also other countries' markets for Moldovan products?", Said PDM deputy Marcel Răducan.
"We have obtained a free trade agreement with Turkey, which is practically one of the big markets for the Republic of Moldova. It has reached the market level of the Republic of Belarus and we have also built good relations with the Serbian market, our products reach the America. Similarly, we're going to work hard to obtain free trade agreement with China", said Pavel Filip.
Liberals wanted to find out the of bank fraud investigation process and money recovery proceeds.
"I will tell you for the first time a thing here from the tribune: In our discussions with the IMF, we have proposed that one of the prerequisites is the publication of a strategy by the General Prosecution, which provides for asset recovery. Two and half year of investigation, history shows that they are not enough, "said Pavel Filip, the prime minister of the Republic of Moldova.
In the end, the liberal Mihai Ghimpu made compliments to Prime Minister Pavel Filip.
GHIMPU: If you were liberals, you would be a prime minister (finger pointing up) but from Democratic, sorry!
CANDU: You mean the Prime Minister understood that you are good, but we have a political problem. That was a beautiful conclusion of the session.
