Pavel Filip attended event marking one year since Tekwill was launched
Prime Minister Pavel Filip participated today at the celebration marking one year since Tekwill was launched. The official expressed gratitude to all those who contributed in developing the project, mentioning that this is an achievement not only for the IT, but the whole economy.
Prime Minister highlighted that the Center offers possibilities to prepare IT specialists, based on the industry's requirements, therefore facilitating the development of policy documents in the field.
"I have previously said that Republic of Moldova's biggest treasure are the incredibly talented people. The young generation that participates in Tekwill programs and will be able to find employment in the field that is considered best paid in Republic of Moldova at the moment and the future, of course lies within this industry" Pavel Filip declared.
Here, the official also spoke of actions taken to increase competitiveness in the IT field, among which counts the opening of the first IT park from Moldova. Pavel Filip expressed the Government's determination to eliminate any restrictions in realizing this project, as well as implementing new ideas in the ICT sector.
"I believe that such centers should exist in other regions, as the world economy in this day and age is found in the IT field" the official added.
Development partners present at the event have confirmed their willingness to support the successful duplication of Tekwill.
"Along with the Government and the private sector we are interested in providing such programs for other regions, so that every child or young person will have the will have access to it and to contribute in the prosperous development of Republic of Moldova" USAID Moldova representative, Karen Hilliard said.
Signe Burgstaller, Ambassador of Sweden to the Republic of Moldova, has also remarked that our country remains a strategic partner in developing the IT sector by consolidating innovative centers.
In its first year of activity, entrepreneurs implicated in programs held by Tekwill managed to gather financing of over one million USD. 80 start-ups were supported, while another 85 companies were able to recruit new employees or enhance the professional abilities of existing ones. A total of 8 000 people participated in various training courses organized by the Center.
Tekwill was created within the project "Developing Centers of Excellence in IT" supported by United States Agency for International Development and Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency. The project is implemented by the National Agency of Companies in the IT and Communication field, in partnership with Technical University of Moldova and Ministry of Economy and Infrastructure.
