Pavel Filip: For the first time, Republic of Moldova will control the cars registered in Transnistria
Prime Minister Pavel Filip declared that yesterday's agreement signed by authorities from Chisinau and Tiraspol, represents an important step in settling the Transnistria conflict.
"About yesterday's signed agreement, which allows vehicles from Transnistria to legally travel outside of Moldova. I have seen that many have already expressed their opinions, which we are already used to. Regardless of what the Government does, there will be opposition and civil societies that will criticize us. I wish to express my gratitude to the team that worked until common grounds were reached.
For the first time, Republic of Moldova will control the cars registered in that region, as the registration plates from Transnistria will be registered by the staff from Chisinau. Along with the registration plates, vehicle registration certificate will also be issued, both with MD inscriptions. This proves that we keep our promises, as the registration plates were among the obligations from last year's 5+2 negotiations, which took place in Vienna.
Last week was also solved the issue of agricultural lands and farmers from Dubăsari will be able to freely access their lands. I express my gratitude to the team that worked to reach a compromise. I also welcome OSCE's role and wish to remark their positive influence during the negotiations" Pavel Filip said.
The new registration plates will be composed of three letters and three numbers, with a Technical Passport, as required by the Vienna Convention on International Traffic.
