Pavel Filip held meeting with Romanian ambassador to Moldova
Prime Minister Pavel Filip held a meeting with Romanian Ambassador to Moldova, Daniel Ionita. The officials discussed the developments in the implementation of bilateral and European projects.
The prime minister thanked Romanian authorities for assistance in upgrading Moldova's infrastructure and for their support in initiating new projects.
"I am convinced that there is still untapped potential for bilateral relations in the spirit of strategic partnership for Moldova's European integration. We expect this partnership to become a stronger one and we are totally committed to this" , said Pavel Filip.
In turn, the Romanian diplomat said that it is important for the two countries to coordinate strategic development priorities, so that the money to be registrated in the budgeted, to ensure that optimum conditions for the implementation of bilateral projects. However, Daniel Ionita said that Romania supports Moldova's European path and will continue to provide necessary support for the realization of the Moldova-EU Association Agreement.
An important topic of the dialogue was the construction of Iasi-Ungheni pipeline, which aims to diversify the country's energy market. The prime minister appreciated the decision of the Romanian Government to give Moldova a 550 thousand euros grant, to develop detailed engineering on the extension of the construction of the segment of the Ungheni-Chisinau pipeline.
The officials also exchanged views on the results achieved under the joint operational "Romania - Ukraine - Moldova 2007-2013" program, the implementation of which was extended by the Commission until December 31st, 2016. The sides have examined developments in the implementation of projects on the environment and the degreeof the Romanian development assistance.
