Pavel Filip: We guarantee protection of citizens' rights and freedom on both banks of Nistru
The Republic of Moldova is capable today to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens on both sides of the Dniester (Nistru). And the Chisinau authorities are working to find a solution to the Transnistrian problem. This is the statement made by Prime Minister Pavel Filip during an IPN interview.
The prime minister explained that separatism in Moldova resulted from two main causes.
"On the one hand, there are people who have taken advantage of disputes and encouraged such tendencies to exert a disproportionate and even dangerous influence on the Republic of Moldova".
"On the other hand, there are sometimes legitimate fears from residents in these zones concerning human rights and economic and social development objectives".
"We are now able to guarantee anyone who has such fears, starting with people in the Transnistrian territory. Their human rights and freedom will be protected and respected by the Government and Parliament in Chisinau".
"We are equally responsible for protecting all citizens of this state. We are working to quickly implement a solution for the Transnistrian region that complies with international law and preserves sovereignty, "said Premier Pavel Filip.
