Pay TV revenues surge in Moldova, despite drop in number of subscribers

Moldova's pay-TV revenues increased by MDL 4.4 million or 4 percent to MDL 116.2 million in the first nine months, according to a report by telecommunications authority Anrceti.
Revenues of IPTV operators rose 13.5 percent or by MDL 5.5 million year-on-year to MDL 46.5 million, while revenues of cable TV operators dropped by MDL 1.1 million to MDL 69.7 million.
The combined number of subscribers for cable TV and IPTV services decreased by 4,200 or 1.5 percent to 271,100.
Cable TV subscribers fell by 11,100 or 5.4 percent to 195,300, and the IPTV customer base increased by 7,000 or 10 percent to 75,800.
ARPU of pay-TV operators grew 2.9 percent to MDL 47.6, Telecompaper writes.
