PDM: Dodon's action points to political subordination of law institutions
President Igor Dodon's action points to the fact that Prosecutors' Office is politically controlled, Democratic Party declares in a press release.
Accordingly, PDM writes that the society was struck observing that not only the state of head but also Interior Minister Andrei Nastase touched hands in activities of the Prosecutors' Office. They don't even hide they control this institution.
Interim General Prosecutor Dumitru Robu will participate the parliament meeting to debate draft law regarding the changes in procedure to select new general prosecutor, President Igor Dodon announced on Monday.
It is a defiant action against the rule of law, a gross interference of the politicians in the activity of the law institutions and a struggle against the independence of the prosecutor's office. Or the head of state or the Minister of the Interior has no reason to know the actions of the Prosecutor General, but only to fully control him and give him instructions on what to do.
Meanwhile, the PDM condemns the political subordination of all the law institutions of the state, including the General Prosecutor's Office. We call repeatedly on foreign embassies accredited to Chisinau as well as the entire international community, to take note of the anti-democratic slippages of the PSRM-ACUM government and to intervene to remove the institutions that must be independent from the political influence.
The use of the prosecutor's office and the police against the current political opponents of the government compromises the general local elections on October 20. We can say that the process of falsifying local elections is in full swing.
