The Constitutional Court would delay and sabotage the justice reform. The accusations were made by Prime Minister Ion Chicu and Justice Minister Fada Nagacevschi, during the Government meeting. The two referred to the draft amendment to the Constitution which is to be repeatedly endorsed by the High Court, after it was previously rejected. In reply, the President of the High Court, Domnica Manole, says that the full Court complied with the law. 

Justice Minister Fada Nagacevschi said the draft amendment to the Supreme Law on the appointment of judges, as well as the composition of the Superior Council of Magistracy, was agreed by foreign partners, including the Venice Commission. At the same time, it was agreed that its approval should take place as a matter of urgency, but the Constitutional Court is in no hurry, says the minister.

"We have found that this project has been sent for approval to the Venice Commission by the Constitutional Court," the justice minister said. 

"The court has decided to take some further action to delay this reform. I am sorry to say this. Unfortunately, the reform is being delayed," said Prime Minister Ion Chicu. 

The President of the Constitutional Court, Domnica Manole, stated for Publika TV that the High Court is entitled to seek the opinion of the Venice Commission whenever it considers. The magistrate says she will not comment on the statements of those who disagree with the Court's actions. 

At the same time, Fadei Nagacevschi also criticized the notification submitted by the PAS MP Sergiu Litvinenco to the Constitutional Court, which challenged some provisions of the Law on the Superior Council of Magistracy.

"I have the impression that Mr. Litvinenco attempts to obstruct the process of reforming the SCM and the judiciary and blocking this draft amendment to the Constitution. I hope that Mr. Litvinenco will give up this cheap populism," the minister said. justice.

In reply, the parliamentarian in question says that his complaint is justified and amused by the minister's statements.

We remind you that recently, the Constitutional Court gave a negative opinion for the Government's project, which seeks to revise the Constitution in the part related to the appointment of judges, as well as the composition of the Superior Council of Magistracy. According to the High Court, the draft does not meet the conditions for revision and cannot be submitted to Parliament for consideration. 

Subsequently, Minister of Justice Fadei Nagacevschi stated that the draft is in accordance with international commitments. Moreover, according to him, every word was agreed with our country's partners. The Government amended the draft and forwarded it to the Court for approval.
