PM Filip with Finnish Ambassador Päivi Pohjanheimo: Finland and Moldova seek extended educational cooperation
Prime Minister Pavel Filip had a meeting on Wednesday with the Ambassador of Finland to the Republic of Moldova Päivi Pohjanheimo on the occasion of the end of her ambassador's mandate in our country.
The Head of the Executive thanked the diplomat for her work, mentioning the dynamic nature of the bilateral dialogue. Particularly, the PM appreciated Finland's attitude and support for the European agenda of the Republic of Moldova.
"It is important to maintain this pace. So is it during the Finnish Presidency at the EU Council, "said Pavel Filip.
The Head of Government also expressed gratitude for Finland's support in settling the Transnistrian conflict, as well as for its willingness to share the experience gained on common security and defense policy issues.
Among the most important projects implemented with the support of Finland in our country were highlighted the projects in the fields of: education, protection of the rights of people with disabilities, media freedom, cyber security and prevention of hybrid threats.
The parties agreed to extend cooperation in the field of education. Pavel Filip stressed that the field of education was declared a priority for the current Government, and the Finnish experience in this regard is a valuable one.
The prime minister said that our country wants closer cooperation with Finland and the economy, stating that the reforms promoted by the Government helped to improve the business environment, which becomes more attractive to foreign investors.
Ambassador Päivi Pohjanheimo thanked the authorities for their good cooperation throughout the mandate and expressed the willingness of the Finnish side to continue bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
