Prime Minister Maia Sandu won't attend the Council of Heads of States of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The meeting will be held in Moscow on 25 October. The draft agenda includes 13 items. The heads of government are to exchange views on current issues of economic cooperation in the CIS and set the date and place of their next meeting.

According to the Prime Minister Maia Sandu's former adviser on foreign policy Vladislav Kulminski, Sandu received the invitation but the Economy Minister Vadim Brînzan will attend the event. 

In 2017, former PM Pavel Filip also refused to participate in this event. One of the reasons he invoked was the meeting took place in Russia. 

When asked by Publika, Pavel Filip was of the opinion that it was strange for Maia Sandu to decline to participate in this event, considering bloc ACUM makes alliance with the Socialist Party, whose informal leader Igor Dodon has been considered close ally of Kremlin.
