PM Pavel Filip and Romanian MEP Victor Boștinaru spoke of the reform agenda
The results of EU-Moldova Association Council meeting and the reforms implemented by the Government were discussed today by Prime Minister Pavel Filip and Romanian MEP Victor Boștinaru, who is currently paying a visit to Republic of Moldova.
Prime Minister mention that the efforts made by the Government over the past two years, such as reducing control bodies, permits, creating a favorable environment for investments, brought results. Therefore, last year was registered a 4.5% economic growth, the positive trend maintaining. Exports grew by 20%, 65% of those being taken to EU market.
The banking system was also fortified, fact proved by the presence of an EU investor in Moldova, such as Banca Transilvania and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. At the same time, Prime Minister highlighted the importance of implementing fiscal, treasury and pension reforms.
Officials spoke of the latest evolution regarding the construction of Iaşi-Ungheni-Chişinău gas pipeline, project that will ensure Republic of Moldova's energy security and independence. Pavel Filip mentioned that by the middle of 2019, the pipeline will be fully functional.
At the topic of the macro-financial assistance, Pavel Filip mentioned that Republic of Moldova will complete all terms by the end of the spring-summer session for the three tranches. The first tranche might reach Moldova in June-July.
MEP Victor Boștinaru appreciated the Government's efforts and registered results, encouraging authorities from Chisinau to continue implementing the reforms.
