President Igor Dodon had a telephone conversation with the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella. The two officials discussed the development and deepening of Moldovan-Italian relations in all areas of common interest.
"I note with regret that the COVID-19 pandemic has halted the previous exchanges between our countries, including the free movement of people. In this context, I addressed President Mattarella with the request to allow the entry of Moldovan citizens into Italy provided the presentation of test certificates at COVID-19 and the performance, if necessary, of repeated tests immediately after entering Italy. ", wrote Dodon on his Facebook page.
Igor Dodon also wrote that he appreciates Italy's support in promoting the reform agenda of the Republic of Moldova, including the European integration of our country.
The head of state welcomed the fact that in the Republic of Moldova are registered about 1400 enterprises with Italian capital and investments in share capital being about 1.8 billion lei, thus Italy ranking second in the number of enterprises with foreign capital in Moldova. In 2019, Italy ranked fourth in the world among the main trading partners of the Republic of Moldova, with a share of 7.8% in total trade.
