The problems that have arisen in recent months on the left bank of the Dniester as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic have been the main topic of yesterday's talks between President Igor Dodon and the leader Vadim Krasnoselski. The two officials met at the State Residence in Condrița.
"We discussed the cancellation of temporary" quarantine "posts in the Security Zone, some actions to ensure free movement, as well as to defend human rights and fundamental freedoms," Igor Dodon wrote on his Facebook page.
At the same time, the two also discussed the preparations for the educational process on September 1, namely the movement of students and teachers. They supported the initiative of the international partners regarding the opening of a Bender-Varnița trolleybus line as soon as possible.
Igor Dodon and Vadim Krasnoselski also discussed the issue of barriers on the Dniester due to the pandemic.
"We reiterated the importance of the Dniester peacekeeping operation as a guarantor of peace and security for citizens and agreed to take joint steps to prevent the worsening of the situation in the Security Zone, which would undermine peace and stability throughout Moldova." wrote the head of state.
The two leaders expressed their gratitude to the intermediaries and observers in the "5 + 2" format for their involvement and support in the development of the negotiation process in the Transnistrian settlement.
"We have repeatedly stressed that dialogue and confidence-building have no alternative, giving us opportunities to discuss much more complicated issues in the negotiation process on Transnistrian settlement," Dodon added.
