Prime Minister Pavel Filip met with Federica Mogherini
Prime Minister Pavel Filip, who is currently on an official visit to Brussels, has met today with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.
The meeting took place before the 4th meeting of the Association Council EU - Republic of Moldova.
The official declared that implementing all terms stated in EU Association Agreement is the Government's priority and so far they managed to achieve great results, while authorities are determined in completing the Agreement.
"In 2018 the general elections will be held and we not only motivated to prove to all citizens the benefits of the Association Agreement, but we must keep an eye out for any attempt of foreign influence" Pavel Filip mentioned.
In those conditions, strategic talks are crucial, as well as collaboration to face hybrid threats. Republic of Moldova is interested in developing its cooperation with EU, including by taking actions to combat propaganda and consolidation of mass media and civil societies.
"The legal framework approved by the Government is the first stem in limiting the effect of such actions, while European experience can assist us in the implementation process" Pavel Filip explained.
The official also spoke of developing new types of cooperation with EU, both bilateral and with other associated states.
Another discussed subject was Transnistria. Recent progress were mentioned, among which counts solving the issues schools teaching in Latin alphabet from the region face, recognition of university diplomas, access to the owned lands for farmers, interaction in the telecommunication areas and the admission of cars registered in Transnistria to the international traffic.
"The Government believes that taking into consideration the pragmatic policy from the past two years and the contribution of EU partners, more progresses will be registered in solving the Transnistria issue" Prime Minister said.
High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy congratulated authorities for their achieved successes with Transnistria and reconfirmed EU's support in solving Republic of Moldova's essential problems, respecting the country's sovereignty and international rights.
Federica Mogherini encouraged authorities to continue implementing reforms, mentioning that EU will offer all the necessary support to realize economic and social projects, aiming to improve the standard of living of the citizens.
